Here We Go....

My journey has begun. I am sitting at the Nashville Airport waiting for our departure flight to Miami. I am traveling with Arianna, a friend from church. We arrived two hours early, to be sure to allow time for hiccups. And good thing we did, because apparently Arianna's name was entered with her middle name being her last, so we were having a slight panic attack, thinking her flight information somehow didn't go through since they couldn't find her. Thankfully, they found the mix up and now we're at our gate waiting, boarding passes in hand. Once we depart Nashville, we will connect in Miami. That is where we will meet up with the other twenty-some-odd folks on our team. Then we will depart Miami and head to San Pedro Sula Airport in Honduras where we will arrive this evening. It is weird to type that...I will be in Honduras this evening. I think my head is still spinning from vacation, so it doesn't even seem possible that I am going to Honduras already. Once it all settles in though, I am positive that I will be geared up and ready to go. There is no doubt that God has sent us on this journey, and likewise, no doubt that Sata is trying to foil our plans. I don't expect this to be a super-exciting thrill ride every moment. I am sure there will be some let downs along the way, as the evil one will take every opportunity to steal this away from God's Kingdom. Because of that, I am confident that our team will be strengthened by these events and that God's grace and love will be shared with the Honduran people.

There is apparently another mission team on our flight to Miami. They have really cute t-shirts that have a lot of small "Jesus fish" on them, as if they were a school of fish and it says, "swimming upstream." I imagine that's what this week will be like for us. We will fight battles that would normally not even cross our minds in our comfortable lives back home, but God will use those battles to prepare us and ultimately to spread His kingdom. While I am certain that swimming upstream is not the easiest way to go, it is likely the most rewarding.
