Celebrating a special day and a special boy

This 4th of July we spent the day celebrating my sweet nephew, Deryck's birthday. It is SO hard to believe that he is eleven years old already. I can remember the first time I saw him. I had never been so in love in all my life. At the ripe old age of 17, I had never experienced a baby being born in my immediate family. I instantly fell head-over-heels in love with that sweet boy and I still feel the same way about him today. He is such an awesome kid. I'm so blessed to have him in my life.

A little hot potato water balloon action.

Happy birthday, Deryck Madison Payne Jones. I love you more than you may ever know!

After Deryck's birthday celebration we headed out to check out the Fort Campbell fireworks display. I had never been before and wasn't sure what to expect. No surprise, it was a great show!

I had my kids get their pajamas on, so when we got home late I could send them straight to bed. ;)
I've been telling folks for years that this boy looks like me. No one agrees. Look at those eyes, those are SO his Aunt Lila's!

Let the show begin!

After the first few fireworks went off Kreid decided he'd be better suited in the car. He loved them, as long as he was inside the car. He told me, "those fireworks were being mean to me!"

Happy 4th, everyone!
